So it’s been a while and…

I’m thrilled to invite you to this special show! Here’s a bit about why I’m doing it: though I’ve been deeply involved in community projects, it’s been a while since I’ve focused on creating and showcasing my own art. To begin this new chapter, I chose to look back and take stock of everything I’ve created over the past several years—a reflection that ultimately shaped the theme of this show. It’s the first of several things I have in the works, and I’m thrilled to start this journey of reconnecting with my art—and with you!

Exhibiton Statement

You are invited to explore the creative evolution of Gloria I. Rivera, expressed through a curated selection of works that remain in her possession. This exhibition offers a rare glimpse into the stories behind her art and the path that continues to shape her vision. Each piece reflects a moment of self-reflection, a theme that has remained constant throughout her work, even as her style and subject matter have developed over time.

In her early works, Gloria’s focus centered on depicting women in introspective moments, capturing themes of resilience, self-acceptance, and transformation. While her work often still centers around feminine figures, she has expanded her visual language to explore deeper dimensions of the human spirit, symbolized by a heart motif as a new way of expressing connection, healing, and vulnerability. The progression in her work lies not in the themes themselves—which continue to revolve around reflection and personal growth—but in how these themes are depicted, now exploring universal aspects of emotion alongside the individual.

This exhibition is an invitation to witness the journey of an artist committed to exploration and self-expression. Through vibrant hues and intimate compositions, Gloria reveals a profound dedication to art as a means of connecting, healing, and inspiring.
